We will be honest: this is our personal “favorite restaurant” … and No, we don’t own it!! (We just love it!). This self-styled “casual gourmet” eatery is eclectic in style … both in food as well as décor. Architecturally, it is very interesting, artsy, unique and full of history. But the food – the real reason you go to a restaurant – is fantastic! We’ve never heard of anyone ever having a bad meal there, or even a mediocre one. The food is fresh, of excellent quality, ample in portion and very reasonably priced for the wonderful experience you get. The place is also immaculate, inside and out. I know this firsthand, as I have been through the kitchen and witnessed their extensive cleaning schedule. It is spotless. The food is also gorgeous … as you would expect from a chef who is both an artist and a graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design! Each plate is a work of art.

Owner/Chef Larry Baima has been personally running the Thompson House Eatery for 30 years. I have always thought the world of him, his food, restaurant & staff, and I’m delighted that it is located directly across the street from the Lodge, offering our guests a great “walk-to” dining experience. But it wasn’t until I hosted a large, 175-person wedding at which Larry was the caterer that I became totally in awe of him! This man knows food … every aspect of it!! There are many good, even excellent restaurants here in Jackson, but we have a very special affinity for The Thompson House Eatery. My favorite is the Spinach Savannah, a dinner salad that I could live on every day; my husband loves Lorenzo’s Loaf. One word of caution: this is not a “family” restaurant. There are no high chairs or strollers allowed; the needs of families with small children are better served in other places. However, for a special occasion, a romantic getaway dinner or really ANY excuse you can manage to come up with for a night out, you will not find a better restaurant in all of New Hampshire, if not all of New England! This one gets our highest praise … (and will get you 10% off if you show the waitress your room key from The Lodge before ordering). You can often get seated without a reservation during the off season, but reservations are a MUST during busy times, and highly suggested always, as this is an immensely – and justifiably popular place.
